All attendees must hold a ticket to enter. The event runs from 12-2pm and there is networking and afternoon tea from 2pm-2.45pm.

Speakers
Allard Bernhofen
Re.Group / Mackay Materials Recovery Facility (MMRF)
Allard has been Re.Group’s Qld Business Development Manager since 2011. He was part of the tender team at Recycling Design and Technologies (RDT) that bid for the MRRF in 2014 before RDT merged with Re.Group in 2016. Allard assisted with the employment of the start-up team of staff on site and facilitated the inclusion of commingled material from Isaac Council, Whitsunday Regional Council and Hamilton Island to expand the MRRF from a local to regional MRRF.
Lucy Smith
Zero Waste Solutions
Lucy is a Conservation Biology graduate from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She co-founded community group Zero Waste Whitsundays in 2021 and co-writes a helpful eco column for the local paper. In 2022, she launched Zero Waste Solutions, offering sustainability consulting, workshops, preloved markets, and kids' workshops to reduce environmental impact and educate at a grass roots level.
Adam Moseley
COEX Container Exchange
Adam’s role as Partnerships Lead focuses on building strategic partnerships with local government and government agencies as well as co-designing container recycling models to suit their specific needs. In the local government space, Adam is focused on out-of-home solutions that facilitate container recycling in parks, public spaces, council facilities and events.
Adam has a strong background in waste policy in both commercial and industrial contexts with significant experience in solid waste resource recovery. Adam is passionate about finding solutions to divert waste from landfill and creating a truly circular economy for Queensland.
Catie Simmons
ecoBiz Program Manager
Catherine Simmons is an experienced climate adaptation and sustainability professional with almost two decades of experience developing and implementing policy and programs that achieve sustainable outcomes. Catie brings this approach into her role as ecoBiz Program Manager within the Sustainable Business team at Business Chamber Queensland.
Libby Edge / Becca Machin
Eco Barge Clean Seas
Founder, Libby Edge’s dedication to preserving marine environments led her to establish Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc. Inspired by the impact of marine debris on marine life and the environment, Libby created a powerful platform for positive change in the Whitsundays. Libby will provide event attendees with information about Project Manager Becca Machlin’s recycling program, which focusses on innovative ways to transform marine debris into new reusable products.
Steve Walpole
Reef Catchments
In his role as Head of Strategy and Partnerships, Steve is responsible for managing Reef Catchments’ strategic road map, key accounts and partner contracts. Before joining Reef Catchments, Steve headed up Partnerships for Planet Ark Renewable Energy and the Australian Circular Economy Hub for just on four years. Prior to this, Steve spent 20 years in Strategy and Partnerships in Banking and Funds Management.
Clinton Shand
Whitsunday Regional Council
Clinton has been with Whitsunday Regional Council’s waste team for 12 months, having previously worked in local government roles in Victoria for over 20 years, including nine years within waste and recycling.
Clinton’s role within Council is to assist with the delivery of waste and recycling services to the community and implement resource recovery & waste education projects and programs across the community, schools, and business sectors of the Whitsunday Region to effect positive behaviour change in the push towards meeting local, state, and federal government waste targets and recycling.
